Royston Cricket Club was founded over 200 years ago in 1790. The Club is in the process of acquiring land to develop its own playing facilities in the Royston area and from the start of the 2006 season all the Club's cricket will be played at the Recreation Ground in Therfield village as a temporary home until the new ground is developed.Royston despite being located in Hertfordshire is currently affiliated to the Cambridgeshire Cricket Board.
The First XI play in the Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Premier Cricket League - Senior Division 1.
The Second XI play in the Cambridgeshire Cricket Association Division 3SB.
The Club runs the Keatley Cup a well known knock-out tournament that regularly attracts 6-8 local Clubs with Royston hosting the Final in July
The Club is also affiliated to the Cambridgeshire Youth Cricket Association (CYCA)and has a thriving young cricketers section. For season 2007 the Youth Section will play in Under-11, Under-12, Under-13 & Under 15 Leagues and will also have some friendly matches for the Under 10's. The Club has entered the relevant age groups Cup Competitions and we run our own annual Under-13 7-a-side Tournament.
The Youth Section operates all year round. Autumn & Winter indoor nets and practice sessions take place at the Royston Leisure Centre.
Summer youth practice sessions take place at Meridian School in Royston on a Sunday morning (10-12noon) starting at the end of April and running through to the end of July.

Under the government's new Points Based Managed Migration system, cricket clubs will now need to obtain a sponsor licence from the UK Borders Agency in order to bring cricketers and coaches from outsi
